The BASE Group promotes the following initiatives in accordance with its Human Rights Declaration.

Recruiting and Developing Talent and Supporting Their Success

Internal Environment Development

Under a corporate culture that respects diversity, we create systems and workplace environments that allow each individual’s personality and abilities to be fully realized. By promoting work-life balance and cultivating a DE&I environment, we enhance employee engagement.

Kurumin certification

Kurumin Certification from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare

Kurumin certification is awarded by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare to companies recognized as supporting employees in raising children. To receive this certification, companies must formulate a general employer action plan under the Act on Advancement of Measures to Support Raising Next-Generation Children, achieve the targets set out in the plan, and meet certain criteria.

We offer employee benefits that support childcare, including a babysitter subsidy program (childcare allowance). We also promote hybrid working through a flex-time system and a work-from-home scheme that combine office-based and remote work. We have achieved a 100% usage rate of five or more days of paid leave and average overtime of less than 10 hours.

We also regularly introduce and test-run support programs tailored to each employee’s life stage. We have achieved a childcare leave utilization rate of 100% for women and 70% or more for men, and a return-to-work rate of 100% for both women and men. (All figures are results for 2025.)

Realizing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I)

Personnel System

We have expanded eligibility for congratulatory and condolence leave and cash gifts, child nursing care leave, and family care leave to include same-sex partnerships between individuals recorded as the same sex in their family registers, as well as de facto marriages. We have also made it known within the company that employees may use preferred names based on their gender identity.

We provide ongoing support to employees with disabilities and employees of foreign nationality through regular check-ins, among other measures. Through these efforts, we are creating an environment where all employees can work in a way that is true to themselves.

Internal Training System

We conduct DE&I training and encourage employees to communicate in ways that respect human rights.

Launch of the Internal Ally Community “BASE_rainbow”

Our Ally community places importance on the concept of SOGI (Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity), which recognizes that everyone, regardless of majority or minority status, has a personal stake in issues related to gender and sexuality. Through this community, we plan and implement activities that aim to promote understanding of various forms of diversity beyond gender and sexuality.

Online shop creation course for educators

Online Shop Creation Courses for Educators

Educators face challenges such as a shortage of teachers able to teach e-commerce and limited knowledge and experience in the field, even though e-commerce is included in the curriculum guidelines. To address these challenges, we work with boards of education and educators on a new initiative: online shop creation courses for educators that draw on BASE’s expertise.

Providing a Safe and Secure Working Environment

Basic Policy on Harassment

Customer Harassment

The BASE Group values the opinions and requests we receive from customers, business partners, and others, and uses this feedback to improve our services and business activities.

However, when the nature of a demand or the manner of speech or behavior exceeds what is socially acceptable, harms the working environment of employees and others, and interferes with their physical or mental safety or their ability to perform their duties, we respond to it as customer harassment through an organizational approach.

To ensure the safety of employees and others, we take necessary measures depending on the circumstances, including ending the interaction, consulting relevant authorities, and taking legal action.

This policy does not restrict legitimate opinions, requests, or complaints concerning our services or other matters.

We will continue to respond to such feedback sincerely. We will also develop internal rules and consultation arrangements and provide employees with information and training to ensure an appropriate response to customer harassment, working to create a workplace where the human rights of employees and others are respected.
